We are currently seeking a Senior Fire Alarm Technician to join the Lifeline team.
Term: Full Time Permanent
Location:
- Unit 35 – 50 Weybright Ct, Scarborough
- Travelling within the Greater Toronto Area
Hourly Wage: $40.00 – $50.00

Responsibilities:
- Conducts repairs and alterations of fire alarm field devices, panels, and components
- Conducts component replacements to devices such as (but not limited to) manual pull stations, smoke and heat detectors and alarms, fire extinguishers, fire hoses, gauges on fire protection sprinkler and standpipe systems, emergency lighting units, exit signs, and other fire and life safety devices
- Performs monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual inspections and tests on fire alarm systems and components in accordance with the Ontario Fire Code, and applicable CAN and ULC standards
- Completes work orders and administrative duties to communicate technician documents to office staff
- Document and record tests and inspections in respective building fire log books
- Utilize company templates to complete applicable reports
- Complete service acknowledgements through phone and laptop programs and software
- Follow prescribed troubleshooting procedures and refer to technical manuals
- Notifies building staff, local fire department, and monitoring stations of fire alarm system shutdowns
- Perform maintenance, repairs, and/or replacement when shutdown of fire systems is required
- Operate professionally and safely on ladders, lifts, platforms, in confined spaces
- Instruct and train applicable personnels of the basic operation of key fire alarm system components
- Mentor and train other staff to ensure compliance to standards and specifications as required
- Communicate and maintain rapport with internal and external stakeholders
- Provides solutions-based recommendations and objective oriented feedbacks
- Travels to properties and maintains proper handling and care of testing and inspections tools, equipment, and materials
- Attend all internal and external meetings as required
- Travel to various work locations as required
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Registered Fire Alarm Technician under Canadian Fire Alarm Association (CFAA) is required
- Diploma and/or degree in Fire Protection Engineering Technology is preferred
- Minimum of 3-5 of fire alarm work experience required
- Experience working in the fire protection services industry, the construction industry, and/or related industry is preferred
- Experience in conventional and addressable fire alarm systems, and key valves and switches on fire protection systems
- Experience in high-rise and low-rise residential, commercial, and industrial buildings
- Experience with basic power tools, hand tools, and multi-meter usage
- Experience with monitoring systems, emergency lighting systems, and extinguishing systems
- Excellent interpersonal skills, results-oriented, analytical thinking
- Demonstrates an aptitude for troubleshooting systems and performing necessary repairs
- Demonstrate a high level of customer service
- Self-starter that can work with little to no supervision
- Must have excellent work ethic with strong dependability
- Strong organizational skills, detail-oriented, positive attitude, and an ability to learn quickly
- Ability to adhere to, implement, and follow safety guidelines and procedures at all times
- Ability to problem-solve, troubleshoot, and analyze
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions

- Ability to work flexible hours including evening and/or weekends to meet customer requirements
- Ability to work in situations which may include (but is not limited to) climbing ladders, scaffolding, and high lift equipment up to 40 feet, working within ducts, hydro vaults, crawl spaces, above ceilings, etc.
- Perform physical labor to including carrying and moving equipment and tools up to 40 lbs
- Proficiency in computer skills
- Proficiency in English is required
- Valid driver’s license and access to reliable vehicle for work is an asset
