Key Responsibilities

  • Reports directly to the Head of Sprinkler Service
  • Assist Sprinkler Service Technicians in inspections of fire alarm systems, sprinkler systems, emergency lighting, fire extinguishers, and fire hose cabinets
  • Assist Sprinkler Service Technicians in performing deficiency repairs
  • Assist Sprinkler Service Technicians with fire alarm panel repairs, test, and system verification
  • Assist Sprinkler Service Technicians to support the safe execution of work
  • Assist Sprinkler Service Technicians in interpreting drawings, specifications and fire codes to determine layout requirements
  • Assist Sprinkler Service Technicians in interpreting drawings, specifications and fire codes to determine layout requirements
  • Assist Sprinkler Service Technicians in installing clamps, brackets and hangers to support piping system and sprinkler and fire protection equipment, using hand and power tools
  • Assist Sprinkler Service Technicians in selecting, measuring, cutting, reaming and threading pipe, install sprinkler heads and mount prepared pipe in supports
  • Assist Sprinkler Service Technicians in joining and connecting pipes and piping sections to related piping systems, tanks, mains, pumps, compressors and control equipment using various pipe joining methods
  • Assist Sprinkler Service Technicians in connecting piping system to water mains, supply tanks, pumps, compressors and control equipment
  • Assist Sprinkler Service Technicians in installing valves, alarms and associated equipment
  • Assist Sprinkler Service Technicians with testing system for leaks using air or liquid pressure equipment
  • Assist Sprinkler Service Technicians in inspect, maintain and repair piping, fixtures and controls including hydrant, pump and sprinkler head connections
  • Assist Sprinkler Service Technicians in service and repair sprinkler system
  • Assist Sprinkler Service Technicians in interpreting work specifications and fire codes
  • Develop knowledge and skills through continuous development training and education
  • Complete required education and training material(s) as required
  • Attend all internal and external meetings as required
  • Travel to properties and attend on-site visits as required
  • Maintain proper handling and care of tools, equipment, and materials
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications, Knowledge, & Skills

  • Pending registration with Skilled Trades Ontario
  • Experience with monitoring systems, emergency lighting systems, and extinguishing systems
  • Experience with hand tools and multi-meter usage
  • Demonstrates an aptitude for troubleshooting systems and performing necessary repairs
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
  • Capable of performing physical labor (e.g. carrying and moving equipment and tools up to 40 lbs.)
  • Able to work in unusual and difficult positions (e.g. climbing ladders, scaffolding, and high lift equipment up to 40 feet, working within ducts, hydro vaults, crawl spaces, above ceilings, etc.)
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evening/weekends to meet customer requirements
  • Demonstrate a high level of customer service
  • Self-starter that can work with little to no supervision
  • Must have excellent work ethic with strong dependability
  • Ability to adhere to, implement, and follow safety guidelines and procedures at all times
  • Strong organizational skills, detail-oriented, positive attitude, and an ability to learn quickly
  • Proficiency in English is required
  • Valid driver’s license and access to reliable vehicle for work is an asset
